YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT IN THE COMMUNITY
From all our support with community involvement and beyond, Impulse provides a variety of opportunities of varying events like pool parties, speaker presentations, social mixers, films screening and more, all around the LA area that are open to all members of our LGBTQ community.
Here are some helpful tips of how YOU can make an impact in the LGBTQ community in your everyday life.
- Start by watching what you say, words can be hurtful.
- Know your Status.
- Educate yourself on HIV Prevention practices like condom use and PrEP.
- Have these crucial conversations with friends to shine light and break down stigmas shrouding important issues like substance abuse, status awareness, and safe sex practices. The more we can talk about it, the more power we have.
- If you know a friend struggling with substance abuse point them to one of our events or members for guidance.
Community Resources are important for individuals in the LGBT community. For many people that have been shunned by their family they have no support system to turn to. In the early 80’s when many people were dying from an unknown disease the government was there to help. The LGBT Community banded together and helped each other out. That is where our Community resource guide is here to help.
